Preventative Care

Dental preventative care is essential to preserving the integrity, functionality and beauty of your teeth and gums. DePaoli Dentistry provides preventative dental services to patients of all ages. Our aim is to prevent dental cavities, damage, discoloration, improper spacing and crookedness. Ideally, patients will visit our office every six months for preventative dentistry services.

Our dentist will perform a dental examination, a comprehensive cleaning and any procedures necessary to prevent oral health problems from arising in the weeks, months and years ahead. It is more convenient, comfortable and affordable to perform preventative care two times every year than address dental health problems after they rear their ugly heads.

Aside from dental checkups and cleanings, preventative dentistry also includes DIY care, meaning do it yourself. You have a vitally important role to play in beautifying and protecting your teeth. In addition to professional cleanings, exams, x-rays and procedures, preventative care also includes flossing, brushing and rinsing with mouthwash. Even wearing a protective mouth guard while participating in sports qualifies as preventative care.

Dental Cleanings and Exams

Dental cleanings and exams are a crucial part of your ongoing dental care. You should visit our office every six months to receive these routine treatments. Dental cleanings and exams allow our dentist and team to remove plaque, tartar and harmful bacteria from your mouth, and to monitor your oral health so that we can diagnose and treat any developing issues before they can become a serious problem.

Oral Hygiene

While professional care is important, nothing can replace a good oral hygiene routine at home. Here are a few tips to help you care for your smile:

  • Floss daily. Flossing reaches the areas that your toothbrush cannot and removes cavity and disease-causing bacteria, plaque and food particles from between your teeth.

  • Brush at least twice a day. This will help keep your teeth clean. We recommend that one of the times you brush your teeth be immediately before going to sleep.

  • Eat a balanced, nutritious diet. Limiting the amount of sugary and acidic foods will help prevent cavities and other dental problems.

  • Visit the dentist regularly. Visiting our office every six months will help you keep your mouth healthy and ensure that you receive any additional care that you may need.

We welcome you to contact our office for more information about preventive care. Our dentist and team are committed to helping you maintain a healthy smile.
