Dental Sealants

If your teeth are prone to tooth decay, our experienced dentist may recommend dental sealants. Sealants are a protective coating, and work to keep out food debris, harmful bacteria and other decay-causing factors. Call DePaoli Dentistry at (714) 441-2372 to learn more about the benefits of dental sealants in Fullerton and North Orange County, California, and to schedule an appointment with Dr. Karen M. DePaoli.

Dental sealants are a fairly simple and quick dental treatment that do not necessitate the use of an anesthetic. This is a painless treatment for kids. Cotton will be use to pad the back area of the mouth. A rubber dam is used in unison with absorbent pads. The dentist will clean the tooth with a cup or a brush, possibly with pumice to thwart plaque and food debris in the mouth.

Our dentist, Karen M. Depaoli, DDS, will place a specialized blue gel on the tooth in question. The gel serves as a mild acid for dental purposes to etch the tooth. Water is then used to wash off the pumice. The tooth is re-isolated and water is removed. The fissure sealant is then applied and cured with the use of a blue light. Dental sealants are then added to the youngster’s remaining three molar teeth. The dental sealant is complete once all four of these teeth are sealed and protected.
