Bridges

Dr. Karen M. DePaoli may recommend a dental bridge to replace an individual tooth or several consecutive missing teeth. Bridges restore your smile and your bite to give you a natural-looking and long-lasting restoration. We welcome you to call DePaoli Dentistry at (714) 441-2372 to learn more about the benefits of dental bridges in Fullerton and North Orange County, California, and to set up your appointment with our experienced dentist.

Dental bridges are perfect for replacing missing teeth. Bridges are connected to the mouth by attaching them directly to teeth that are adjacent to the gap. The dentist starts out by assessing the area. X-rays will be taken along with casts of the teeth. If necessary, the dentist will perform a root canal or add a new core/foundation in an adjacent tooth prior to adding the bridge. The teeth on the sides of the gap hold the bridge in place. The dentist might re-shape these teeth prior to placing the bridge. A local anesthetic is provided to minimize pain. The dentist takes molds of the teeth. The teeth are then filed, reshaped as necessary and prepared for the addition of the bridge.

A mold is taken and transmitted to a dental lab so a technician can make the bridge with it. The bridge is made in the weeks that follow. A temporary bridge will be positioned in your mouth in the meantime. The bridge is then cemented into position after it is made by the lab. If any adjustments are necessary, the dentist will make them. You will then be provided with instructions as to how to clean below the bridge. Follow this guidance and your bridge will serve you well.
